WHATEVER you do – don’t feed the plant! Hodgson Academy is set to make history this week with its latest musical production. The school is believed to be the first ever to stage a full-scale production at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre.
A cast of 36 students is bringing Little Shop of Horrors to the historic venue on Friday (26th June) and Saturday (27th June).
The highly acclaimed and much-loved musical tells the tale of a nerdy florist who finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.
Katie Edgar, Lead Teacher of Performing Arts, said: “The show is obviously an amazing opportunity for our students here – many of whom have never had the opportunity before to appear in a professional theatre.
“They are very excited to act on the same stage as some of the most famous names in the business, so it is awe-inspiring for them. And hopefully, if it goes well, we will be able to make a return visit.”
Tickets are on sale, priced £10 (adults) and £7 (under 26s and OAPs) at the Grand Theatre Blackpool Box Office on Telephone 01253 290190 or via the website www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk
Hodgson Academy would like to thank the show’s headline sponsors – Hesketh Press, Arran Paul Audio and Hodgson Academy’s PTFA.
