HODGSON Academy had the winning formula in several categories at a science awards event. There were 23 awards won by students at the Physical Sciences Awards Evening, held at Blackpool Sixth Form College on 8th July.
Year 10 student Robert Lambert pictured above achieved a Bronze 2 Award for the Oxford University Physics Olympiad, which is only awarded to the top 15% of those who entered nationally.
Aishah Rashid, also a Year 10 student, won the Fylde Coast Ogden Partnership Physicist of the Year. As a result, she will be followed by the Ogden Trust (a charitable trust that promotes the teacher and learning of physics) throughout her studies with opportunities of support and future scholarships.
Year 11 student Ben Foster won Key Stage 4 Physics Student of the Year.
There were also awards given for Physicist and Chemist of the Year to students in Years 9, 10 and 11, which included Antonio Marmo, Dominic Best, Caitlin Andrew and Caan Ali.
Science Teacher Mrs Garside said about the event, which was sponsored by The Fylde Coast Ogden Trust and business Victrex: “It was a fantastic evening and a real pleasure to see our students collecting awards that they so greatly deserve.”
