THE true spirit of Christmas is alive and well at Hodgson. Kind-hearted students have been fundraising and collecting donations for those not as fortunate themselves.
Students in form 7H donated gifts to the Fylde Coast Women’s Aid, which provides a refuge for victims of domestic violence and their children. The large haul of sweets, books and toys was collected by a representative from the organisation on Friday 11th December. Dr Thagia, 7H’s Progress Tutor, commended the students for their “hard work and effort” with the collection.
The Christmas Bauble Appeal and House Christmas Markets – run during the first two weeks of December – raised just over £1,115 for Brian House Children’s Hospice. Students and staff could also wear their Christmas jumpers for a £1 donation to Save the Children on Friday 18th December.
Catering students provided a festive feast for guests at Hodgson’s annual Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party on Tuesday 8th December. The Academy band, choir and various soloists and dancers entertained during the event. It has been a busy time for our young musicians who have performed at various community events, including Hodgson’s annual Christmas Carol Concert at St Chad’s Church on Wednesday 16th December.
