Three cheers for Hodgson!

Christmas Jumper Day 2015a

THREE good causes have benefited from generous donations by students and staff at Hodgson Academy.

A cheque for £1,270 was officially presented to Brian House Children’s Hospice.

This money was raised by the academy’s Christmas bauble appeal and markets. Lisa Martin, Community Fundraiser at Trinity Hospice and Palliative Care Service, accepted the cheque on the charity’s behalf.

British Red Cross representatives were awarded £1,130, raised by a whole-school fundraiser last year, during an assembly.

Each form group had been tasked with coming up with its own unique fundraiser for the Red Cross Refugee Crisis Appeal during the autumn term.

Form 7W topped the fundraising tally by collecting £332 with a sponsored one-hour run or walk around Hodgson’s field.

Red Cross Fundraiser1Progress tutor Mr Egan had pledged to undertake a dare if his form raised more than £200, so ended up dressed as a pink fairy for a full school day.

Other forms generated donations through bake sales or tuck shops.

A grand total of £900 was raised by Hodgson for Save the Children through donations given during the Christmas Jumper Day and Carol Concert at Poulton St Chad’s Church in December.

Thank you to everyone that contributed to any of these fundraisers.
