New York 2017. Hodgson Goes Global

February saw the 10th anniversary of the infamous New York visit for Hodgson Year 11 students. Leading the visit, Mrs Tingey and Mr Jenkinson took 38 Year 11 students to visit the sites and experience the culture of the Big apple.

They were accompanied by Mr Lamoury, Ms Bate and Mrs Emmett.

The group visited The Empire State Building, World One Trade Center, the 9/11 Memorial gardens as well as taking a tour on the River Hudson Taxi Boat to get really close up to the Statue of Liberty.

One of the highlights of the visit was the Movie Tour, where the students were shown various filming locations used around New York, including the famous apartments used for the ‘Friends’ series and Will Smith’s house in the blockbuster, ’I am Legend.’

No visit to New York would be complete without a visit to Broadway. The group watched the celebrated ‘Kinky Boots’ musical as well as ‘Avenue Q.’

This year, the weather was extraordinary, with temperatures reaching 69 degrees and the students were amazed to see people wearing shorts and T-shirts in Central Park! Planning for the 2018 New York visit has now begun!
