Remembrance Day 2018

Hodgson’s senior students and Mrs Duggan ably represented the Academy at Poulton’s Remembrance Service on Sunday 11th November to mark the centenary of the end of World War I.

Schools from across Poulton laid poppy wreaths as a symbol of remembrance at the end of an emotional ceremony and the event was well attended with one of the largest crowds of recent years.

The Academy was proud to play it’s part in what is always a moving and fitting tribute to the fallen.

Remembrance week at Hodgson had been marked with a series of remembrance assemblies, the selling of poppies by students and an appeal by the school for information about former students that may have served in the armed forces and who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Year 9 students were also taught war poetry and war poets in English.
