Chess at Hodgson

Mr Moyle and the Chess Club hosted the first Hodgson Chess Tournament of the year straight after the half term break. Twenty six students from Years 7, 8 and 9 competed over five days for the trophy and title of champion.

Mr Farmer was delighted to find out that the finale was an all Dragon affair involving Joseph Money and Wojciech Idzior both from the same form in Year 9. The final game was a tense 25 minutes where both boys played highly tactical and defensive strategies. Joseph took advantage of a hanging pawn in the 19th minute which allowed him to pull ahead. Wojciech could not respond in time and within a few moves Joseph was out of reach.

The final result was Joseph Money winning the tournament on points 7 – 0.
