Year 10 GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students entered into the Springboard Future Chef Competition. The school heat was held on Monday the 14th of October 2019.All students did exceptionally well. However, there were 6 students who really stood out from the crowd – Ashleigh Cooper, Danielle Millband, Grace Clare, James Spencer, Jamie Holmes and Courtney Stirzaker. After the final judging Grace and James came in joint first place and were selected to go through to the local finals which were held at Blackpool and the Fylde College on Monday 11th November 2019.
During the local finals students were asked to prepare and cook two dishes within a budget of £7.00, a hot main course and a dessert. Grace came joint first place, narrowly missing out on a place in the regional final and James was placed third.
It was a great experience for students to have their dishes judged by professional chefs. It was commented on by the judges how professional both students were and how impressed they were with the skills they demonstrated in their dishes. Examples of our students work are pictured.
