Congratulations to our Class of 2017 on their excellent examination results

GCSE Examination Results 2017

Hodgson Academy is celebrating the outstanding achievement of the year 11 class of 2017

In the first year of the new and more challenging GCSEs in English and Maths, 82% of students achieved at least a Grade 4 or above in both of these subjects, and 55% of students achieved a Grade 5 or above in both subjects. These figures demonstrate that Hodgson students have achieved well in advance of both local and national averages in the new ‘Basics’ measures.

We were also delighted that 78% of students achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and Maths and that 77% of students entered for the full suite of ‘EBacc’ subjects passed all of these subjects at Grade 5 or above. 25% of grades achieved across all subjects were at A/7 or above.

These results produced an Attainment 8 score of 51.7, another performance significantly above local and national figures. Our provisional ‘Progress 8’ score for 2017 is 0.1, which indicates that students at Hodgson have once again outperformed students in other schools nationally based on their starting point.

Special recognition must go to the 18% of students who achieved at least 5 Grades at A/7 or above, a truly exceptional individual performance which reflects the immense commitment of these students to their studies.

Amid a climate of variable national trends, these results reflect strong achievement and progress across the curriculum. We will of course work tirelessly to further improve outcomes for 2018 and beyond.
