Students have access to some of the best available ICT at cutting edge technology at Hodgson. Pivotal to our students’ learning is an interactive website called Moodle, which they can use at any time to review lessons or complete homework. Special arrangements can be made to give extra internet access to students without a home computer.

The academy has seven ICT suites and nine mobile suites of computers on wheels. As an academy, we have been able to provide additional resources in the subjects of design technology, science, mathematics and ICT. We have also incorporated cutting edge technological developments across other areas of the curriculum.

Hodgson’s SIMS Learning Gateway provides real-time information on each student. Parents can get secure electronic access to their own child’s attendance data, behaviour management information, achievements and timetable details.

Hodgson provides students and staff with the latest and the best in teaching and learning facilities. The academy has a state-of-the-art Learning Centre. Underneath its domed roof, learning can take place in many different ways. This vast space can accommodate three classes at once, all involved in different activities. It also houses the academy library and a computer suite.

Students participate in a wide-range of PE and sporting activities within a new sports hall.

Improvements are being made on a continual basis to the academy’s buildings and facilities. Those undertaken recently include a new performing arts suite and refurbishments to science laboratories, ICT suites and design technology workshops.
