Duke of Edinburgh at Hodgson Academy
The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is a nationally recognised qualification with 3 levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. For each level you must take part in a physical activity, learn a new skill and volunteer your time to a good cause each week. On top of this students take part in two weekends of hiking and camping during the year.
Hodgson is now entering its eleventh year with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, with more and more students taking part each year. Our Bronze Award is open for all year 9 and 10 students and once they have completed this they can move onto Silver or even Gold, giving them the chance to go to St James’ Palace for their award presentation.
Taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme offers you the opportunity to develop your skills for a successful future at the same time as making a huge contribution to your local community. It is a fantastic opportunity to take on new challenges and meet new people. A number of our past participants have gained further awards due to their work through their Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and at Hodgson itself many of our Head Boys and Girls have been D of E participants.
