The academy dining rooms are first-rate, modern facilities for students and staff. The canteens serve nutritious foods, cooked in healthy ways.
Breakfast is available in the Hot Pot Dining Room from 8.15am until registration and assembly at 8.45am.
A variety of healthy snack foods are available at morning break (11am-11.15am).
Students can avoid the morning break or lunchtime queues by placing an order for the Sandwich Express Scheme (or grab bag) at breakfast. They fill out a form outlining what they’d like for lunch – choices include sandwiches with an array of fillings, salad pots, pasta pots, fresh fruit, yoghurts, muffins and range of drinks – and pay.
This grab bag can then be collected at either morning break (11am-11.15am) or lunchtime (1.15pm-1.50pm).
Lunches are provided on a cafeteria basis from 1.15pm-1.50pm.
There are two dining rooms at Hodgson:
Price reviews are normally undertaken for the start of each academic year. There may be some minor increases to the tariffs shown in the menu.

Students can bring packed lunches and the Assembly Hall is made available at lunchtimes to provide extra apace for students to eat their lunch. In summer, students are able to use picnic tables on the academy’s grounds and the main sports field.
All pupils are encouraged to drink unflavoured, still water to keep fully re-hydrated. No fizzy drinks are allowed in class. Students must stay on site at lunchtimes, unless they have express permission from the Principal to go home for lunch.
This is virtually impractical unless families live very close to the academy.
