The king is dead, long live the king.
After almost two weeks of play we have finally concluded the Winter Chess Tournament.
Twenty-eight players have been whittled down to one champion - Theo Man.
The final drew a large crowd of teachers and students; there was a hushed electricity in the room during the early game where Theo held a slim advantage. The tension continued to build, with Mrs Foley having to take a break outside as it was all 'getting a bit much'. On move 17 there were gasps as Milian made an inaccuracy leading to his Queen being taken. The pair continued to challenge for position, but now with a strong advantage Theo closed in around the king.
Theo ended the match with an elegant pawn move to mate. He finished the final with a staggering 85% move accuracy. Well done Theo!
